TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE OF THE PANATHENAIC STADIUM ELECTRONIC TICKETING SERVICE

Preamble

The Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro), managed by the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC), is a historic monument and one of the most important sites of athletic and cultural heritage in Greece.

These Terms and Conditions govern the issue and use of electronic tickets, as well as visits to the premises of the Panathenaic Stadium.

By purchasing or using an electronic ticket, the visitor declares that they have read, understood and unreservedly accept these Terms.

Article 1 – Scope

• These Terms apply to every purchase and use of an electronic ticket for the Panathenaic Stadium.
• Electronic tickets are issued through the official website of the Panathenaic Stadium or through a partner authorised by the HOC.
• These Terms apply alongside the Rules of Operation of the Panathenaic Stadium and the Personal Data Protection Policy.

Article 2 – Ticket Content and Visitor Services

• The General Admission ticket gives access to the Panathenaic Stadium and to the areas open to visitors on the date of the visit.
• The ticket price includes, where available:
  • entry to the Panathenaic Stadium,
  • access to the Panathenaic Stadium Museum,
  • use of the official Audio Guide service, in the available languages.
• Access to guided tours, educational programmes, special activities or events may require a prior booking or an additional ticket.
• The availability of the Museum, the Audio Guide and other supplementary services may be temporarily restricted for technical or operational reasons.
• The temporary unavailability of a supplementary service does not give rise to a right to a refund, provided that the basic opportunity to visit the Panathenaic Stadium remains available.
• The HOC may modify the visitor route, the content and the available languages of the Audio Guide, as well as the services provided, for reasons of operation, maintenance or improvement of the visitor experience.

Article 3 – Entry and Rules of Visit

• Entry to the Panathenaic Stadium requires a valid ticket and compliance with these Terms, with the relevant signage and with the instructions of staff.
• Holders of reduced-price or free tickets must present the required supporting documents. Otherwise, payment of the price difference may be requested or entry may be refused.
• For reasons of safety and protection of the monument, checks may be carried out on entry, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
• Entry is not permitted with dangerous, sharp, flammable or other objects that may endanger people, facilities or the monument.
• Visitors must:
  • follow the instructions of staff,
  • move only within the areas open to visitors,
  • respect the historic and monumental character of the Stadium,
  • cause no damage or pollution,
  • not obstruct the visit of others.
• The following are specifically prohibited:
  • climbing, or entering areas not open to visitors,
  • moving equipment, protective measures or signage,
  • throwing objects or litter,
  • causing excessive noise,
  • consuming alcohol and using illegal substances,
  • using bicycles, scooters or other wheeled vehicles, other than mobility aids for people with disabilities.
• Smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes are permitted only where provided for by the relevant signage and the applicable legislation.
• Food and drink may be consumed only in the areas indicated by signage or by staff.
• Animals are not permitted, with the exception of recognised assistance dogs, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
• Minors must be accompanied and supervised by a parent, guardian, teacher or other responsible adult.
• The HOC reserves the right to refuse entry to, or to remove, any visitor who breaches these Terms, fails to comply with the instructions of staff, or endangers the safety and orderly operation of the site. In such cases no refund of the ticket price is provided.

Article 4 – Restricted Access and Exceptional Circumstances

• The Panathenaic Stadium is a historic monument and a venue for official ceremonies and for sporting, cultural and other events.
• The HOC may temporarily modify the opening hours, the visitor route or access to particular areas for reasons of:
  • safety,
  • protection or maintenance of the monument,
  • the holding of an official ceremony or event,
  • visits by officials or international delegations,
  • technical or operational requirements,
  • adverse weather conditions,
  • implementation of instructions from the competent authorities.
• Restricted access to individual areas does not give rise to a right to a refund, provided that the basic opportunity to visit the Stadium remains available.
• If operations are fully suspended on the date for which the ticket is valid, the visitor may be informed about transferring the visit to another date or about a refund of the price, in accordance with the procedure to be announced by the HOC or by the official ticketing platform.
• Visitors must immediately follow any evacuation instructions or emergency measures applied by staff and the competent authorities.

Article 5 – Photography and Filming

• Photography and filming are permitted for personal, non-commercial use, provided that the operation of the Stadium is not obstructed, no nuisance is caused and the protection of the monument is not put at risk.
• Professional or commercial photography and filming, as well as advertising, television, cinematic or photographic productions, require the prior written permission of the HOC and, where required, of the other competent authorities.
• The use of tripods, extensive professional equipment or other means that may obstruct the movement of visitors may be restricted or prohibited.
• The use of unmanned aircraft (drones) within or above the Panathenaic Stadium is prohibited without prior written permission and the required approvals from the competent authorities.
• Visitors must respect the privacy and personal data of other visitors and of staff.
• The HOC may temporarily restrict or prohibit photography and filming during official ceremonies, special events or for reasons of safety.

Article 6 – Limitation of Liability

• The HOC makes every reasonable effort to ensure the safe and orderly operation of the Panathenaic Stadium and of the electronic ticketing service.
• The HOC is not liable for temporary unavailability of the electronic platform caused by maintenance work, technical malfunctions, communication network problems, events of force majeure or other causes beyond its reasonable control.
• The HOC is not liable for the loss, theft or damage of visitors’ personal belongings during their visit.
• Visitors must take the necessary measures for their own safety and use the premises in accordance with the instructions of staff and the relevant signage.
• The HOC is not liable for any damage caused by a visitor’s failure to comply with these Terms or with the instructions of staff.

Article 7 – Intellectual Property

• The content of the official website of the Panathenaic Stadium, including texts, photographs, graphics, logos, trademarks, designs, audiovisual material and other elements, is protected by the applicable legislation on intellectual and industrial property.
• Copying, reproducing, distributing, publishing or commercially exploiting the content without the prior written permission of the HOC or of the respective rights holder is prohibited.
• Merely accessing the website or purchasing a ticket does not transfer any intellectual or industrial property right to the visitor.

Article 8 – Amendment of the Terms

• The HOC reserves the right to amend or update these Terms at any time, where this is required by changes in legislation, in the operation of the Panathenaic Stadium or in the services provided.
• Amendments are published on the official website of the Panathenaic Stadium and apply to transactions carried out after their publication.

Article 9 – Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

• These Terms are governed by Greek law.
• For any dispute that may arise from the interpretation or application of these Terms, the parties shall first attempt to reach an amicable settlement.
• If the dispute cannot be settled out of court, the Courts of Athens shall have jurisdiction, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
